Planet Earth calling Houston...

Hello?... Hello?
****

Lately I am amazed about this great ability i have: Disconnect from this world and allow my thoughts to wander all around the place.

Theres no restriction about places, times, occasions, company... basically anything.

I can be talking to a customer and.... 1, 2, 3... s/he lost me.

I can be watching a movie and suddenly a scene reminds me of that time when i was also sitting like that and then...

I can be at a meeting and again.. 1, 2.. im somewhere else.

I can be in the car driving and when i notice... im home and almost dont remember anything of the road i took.

Its amazing!!

It can be a little annoying though.. cause when i come back to the conversation or the meeting, sometimes i have lost track of it... some other times i survive cause it was mainly bullshit being discussed anyway. But i wonder.. why is it that i can just fly away so fast?

Im thinking this may have something to do with the fact that ive been away from classrooms for a while. After all, in school i was used to that, a lot of my time was spent sitting in front of a teacher going yada yada, and paying attention (most of the times) cause i had to get the explanations and reproduce them on exams and such... now its been 4 years since i did that and i think i got a bit 'unaccostumed'.

Maybe i have also become a bit less tolerant when it comes to 'beating around the bush', and 'unplug the cable' or 'change channels' is my strong protest against it. Seriously, i think its kinda rare when people cuts the crap and goes to the point in this business world. Perhaps its just mexicans, but they really really really enjoy going in all possible directions before they make their point (just look at me!).. and they have a strong urge to decorate the truth and facts with A LOT of lalalala.

Anyways, concentrate Angelica concentrate!

Googled!

Thanks to my lovely boyfriend, yesterday i had an illumination moment and it finally occured to me that people, not to mention recruiters and hiring managers (!), could actually 'google me' and all of a sudden (or well, after 4 entries) i would be there... on the spot, busted, and caught in flagrant action!

I am paranoid enough and i had to see what EXACTLY would they find...

First act:

A link to my Flickr photostream --- Grand! I dunno about yours, but my photostream is not always the first impression i want people to have about me.

Second act:

My fancy professional profile on LinkedIn --- Damn! Second impressions DO count no?!

Third act:

The link to my Blogger user profile --- Yeah and of course with that, access to my personal blog AND more importantly, the magnificent Absolut Blogshit site! Please note that in case you missed this one, theres a reminder in the next entry with a direct link to this blog..

Final act:

An automatic Slideshow of all my pictures on Flickr --- Absolutely Beautiful! Talk about a finale with a punch! :)

The Celebrity In Me

I really dont understand why, but its kinda common that people tells me that i resemble someone they know. Someone they know can either be a random striker from their block, gym, office, childhood, etc. or a famous celebrity.

One of my friends even insists i must have 2 lost twin sisters cause he swears he knows 2 girls who look exactly like me and they are my age!

Among the celebrities im supposed to resemble you can find: Donna from That 70's Show, Julia Roberts, Sasha Sokol and even Gwyneth Paltrow! Now, as i said from the very beginning, i really dont understand why! Although i could identify a trend here.. all these girls have worn red hair at some point of their lives.. so im guessing what people call 'resemblance' is nothing more and nothing less than 'hair color match'!

The funny thing is i have found a very advanced tool to find out which celebrity you look like (yeah, i know, really really meaningful this tool), and it turns out that when i walk around with all the style that usually characterises me, not only i resemble Gwyneth or Julia, but i also look like:

Alexis Bledel
Elisha Cuthbert
Helen Hunt
Keira Knightly
Kelly Clarkson
Lucy Liu
Mira Sorvino
Shannen Doherty
...

GOSH! If only i had known this before!!!

Want to find the celebrity in you? :)

More on Football...

I dont remember ever making a post about the football team i support in Mexico, and i think this is probably the best time to do it.

My team is... tadaaaaaaaaa.........

Chiiiiiiivas!!!!

That being said, ill just move on to explain why i think this is an appropriate time to make such confession. Thing is...

1) 6 out of the 23 players of the national team going to the World Cup 06 are from Chivas!

2) Even without (probably) their best 6 players, Chivas has managed to pass to Quarter Finals at the Copa Libertadores 2006!

3) Aaaand... they have also made it to Semi Finals in the National League!

So I got it right. Chivas is the way! :)

One month left

Yes ladies and gentlemen! Only one month left for the World Cup 2006 to start!! Yay!

Mexico is still 6th on the FIFA ranking, so this must mean we will at least make it to Quarter finals, and hopefully we will see the official mexican squad running after the ball during more than 3 games..

On a different note, I read something really 'funny' today about the world cup. It seems for security reasons, the organising committee decided to restrict the amount of beer they will sell in the stadiums. According to the reports, you will only be entitled to buy one liter of beer once you get in.

These news, in combination with the fact that the one liter you will get will ONLY be of a specific american brand, just make the party scene at the WC a little bit questionable!

Where is that german drinking spirit?!?! :p

I Don't Belong Here...

Well, i think thats quite clear.

The question is WHERE do i belong then?

For many years i thought i belonged in Sweden. Lately ive been thinking i belong in Denmark. And now all of a sudden (or actually after reading Coral's post) i finally found out where do i REALLY belong.. Science speaks! I belong in..

G'day Mate! You're a yokker. A true Aussie. You love the beach and barbies, as well as sport and sex. Life couldn't get any simpler, and thats the way it should be. C'mon Aussie, C'mon!

Well well well.. something in that continent never really occured to me!

I tried to know more specifically.. which CITY should i be living in, and it turns out..

You Belong in Rome

You're a big city girl with a small town heart
Which is why you're attracted to the romance of Rome
Strolling down picture perfect streets, cappuccino in hand
And gorgeous Italian men - could life get any better?

I think i can agree with all this.. except for italian men of course, since i prefer a specific dane, and capuccino... nah, espresso for me please...

The point is, you cant even trust science these days.. what kind of contradiction is that?! Australia and Rome? Make up your mind and stop playing games with me, damn it!

Things that make you go..

HUH?

Remember my post about speed radars in Mexico City?

Around 100,000 drivers have been caught by these radars, generating incomes for around US$2.2 million to the city's government.

Well, now it turns out that they have decided to forgive the fast mortals who got a fine during these months.

Why?

Very good question.. but according to them.. "nothing to do with electoral strategy"... (ha!)

To make it even sweeter..

Not only the government will condone the Fittipaldis, they will also send the fine 'warnings' by mail, so that the drivers know they were busted and forgiven! This will imply a cost of around US$110,000...

Absolutely beautiful (not to mention SMART)!
